BULGARIAN JOURNALISTS VISITED THE NATO HEADQUARTERS IN BELGIUM

12 Bulgarian journalists from different media met with experts and specialists from the NATO – SHAPE in Mons, Belgium and the Headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels. The meeting, initiated by the State Commission on Information Security during the period from 27 to 29 May 2009 was connected with the 60 years anniversary of NATO and 5 years jubilee full member of our country in it.

The visit program provided the opportunity for journalist to be well informed by the first hand source, i.e. by the make decision people in NATO or those, who are authorized to represent them, said Tsveta Markova, Chairperson of the SCIS. She specified that for that purpose the subjects were tackled as “NATO and Allied Command Operations”, “NATO’s Ongoing Operations”, that were discussed at the SHAPE. The theme of international interest was “NATO-Russia Relations/Georgia.”

According to Tsveta Markova, for the journalists, who formed the public opinion, it was very important to be well informed about goals and priorities formulated by NATO in near future.
