Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Republic of Finland on mutual protection and exchange of classified information

Today, on April 16th 2008, an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the government of the Republic of Finland on mutual protection and exchange of classified information was signed.

The Agreement establishes the regulatory framework of the cooperation in the field of the protection of classified information between the two states and creates conditions for active interaction  between them in different fields of public life that impose exchange of classified information.

The Agreement is a result of two rounds of expert negotiations, conducted in 2007, respectively in Sofia and in Helsinki. On Bulgarian side in the negotiations participated representatives of the State Commission on Information Security, the National Security service and “Security- MP and MCI” Service.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria the Agreement was signed by Mrs. Tsveta Markova, Chairperson of the State Commission on Information Security, and on behalf of the Republic of Finland the Agreement was signed by Mr. Ville Andersson, First Secretary, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Finland in the Republic of Bulgaria.
