Signing of Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on mutual protection of the classified information
Posted on 29 Oct 2012 17:05:00On the 29th October 2012 in the building of the State Commission on Information Security an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on mutual protection of the classified information was signed.
On the Bulgarian side the Agreement was signed by Mrs. Tsveta Markova – Chairperson of the State Commission on Information Security and on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany by H. E. Mr. Matthias Höpfner – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Bulgaria.
This agreement is a new version of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on mutual protection of the secret information which was signed on 29th October 1999. The agreement is as result of consultations with representatives of the German side which were held in May 2010 in Sofia.
The current agreement will contribute for the development of the bilateral economic relations by giving the possibility for participation of German companies in public procurements held by Bulgarian ministries and departments as well as of Bulgarian companies in the Federal Republic of Germany.
In the agreement are defined the main concepts in the field of protection of classified information, the respective levels of the security classification levels of the information, the competent security authorities of the Parties, the security classification measures and the rules for the actions in case of breach of security, the ways for exchange and use of classified information. Provisions are included regulating classified contracts and procedures for international visits.
