Working meeting between the Chairperson of the State Commission on Information Security Mrs. Tsveta Markova and the Members of the European Parliament on behalf of the Republic of Bulgaria
Posted on 04 Oct 2010 10:13:59By the initiative of the Chairperson of the State Commission on Information Security Mrs. Tsveta Markova on 30th September at the Headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels, a working meeting with the Members of the European Parliament on behalf of the Republic of Bulgaria was held. Ambassador Boyko Kotsev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union and Head of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union, and Mrs. Miroslava Semkova,
Representative of the State Commission on Information Security and Information Security Officer in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union also participated in the meeting.
The meeting was conducted under the hosting of Mrs. Iliana Ivanova, Member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) who acclaimed the initiative and expressed the readiness of the euro - deputies for establishing closer co-operation with the State Commission on Information Security in the field of the protection of the national classified information, as well as of the classified information of the European Union. Mrs. Ivanova shared her practical experience regarding to the procedures for handling classified information, implemented in the European Parliament.
On her behalf, Mrs. Markova extended her gratitude for the manifested attention and presented in brief the activities of the State Commission on Information Security as National Security Authority of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The rules for handling classified information within the European Parliament and, more particularly, the procedures for access to such information by the euro-deputies were discussed.
Ambassador Kotsev acclaimed the initiative and expressed the readiness of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union to support actively the procedures for interaction between the Bulgarian authorities, in particular the SCIS and the European ones.
The euro-deputies assessed the meeting as beneficial with a view to the specifics of the issues considered within the meeting and expressed their willingness and readiness for co-operation and support.
The meeting was carried out in working atmosphere.
