Participation of representatives of the SCIS at the Annual meeting of the Multinational Industrial Security Working Group
Posted on 15 Sep 2010 16:35:34In the period 7 – 9 September 2010, in Slovenia, the Annual international meeting of the Multinational Industrial Security Working Group (MISWG) was held. Representatives of 26 states of 30 member countries of MISWG in total attended the meeting. Observers of the European Commission, as well as of NATO Office of Security, also participated. During the sessions issues in the field of industrial security of the member states and on internal procedure rules of MISWG were discussed. Reports on the activity of the working groups, which were formed in 2009, were heard out.
Bulgaria was represented by Zahari Zahariev – Deputy Chairperson of the SCIS and by Mariya Toteva – expert of the Legal and International Legal Affairs Directorate. A report on “Electronically Processed Information” was presented by the Bulgarian side.
The subject was determined during the MISWG meeting in Bulgaria which was held in the autumn of 2008. For the preparation of the report experts from the SCIS made a thorough research on the internal legislation of the member states, the organization and the practical implementation of this process. The presentation provoked a great interest and discussions, directed to ideas for future development and perfection of the technologies and principles, allowing the exchange of sensitive information.
For the first time a representative of New Zealand, that from this year is a full member, participated in the MISWG sessions.
During the concluding stage of the meeting a proposal for the full membership of Israel was extended by America. The representatives of the member states voted with unanimity for the accession of the state as MISWG member.
The meeting was concluded by the official turn over of the Flag and the Bell of the Multinational Industrial Security Working Group to the next host – Finland.
