Participation of representatives of SCIC in the Fifth Meeting of the Heads of the National Security Authorities of the South-Eastern European countries, members of Regional Co-operation Council (SEENSA)

In the period 19th May 2015-21st May 2015 in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia the Fifth Meeting of the Heads of the National Security Authorities of the South-Eastern European countries, members of Regional Co-operation Council (SEENSA) was held. The meeting was carried out as regional conference in the presence of Heads and Representatives of the National Security Authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Kosovo, the Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Slovenia, EU and the Regional Co-operation Council. SCIS was represented by Mr. Sergey Damyanov and Mr. Petar Petrov, Members of the Board of the Commission and Mrs. Ivelina Nacheva, Expert in Legal and International Legal Affairs Directorate.

The conference is part of the initiative launched in 2011 by SCIS and Regional Co-operation Council Secretariat on co-operation in the field of the functioning of the system for protection of classified information of South-East European countries. The purpose of SEENSA format is the exchange of good practices and experience in the field of the protection of the classified information and development of regional security through enhancing the regional co-operation in this field.

The participants shared their national views concerning the development of the co-operation in the field of the protection of the classified information between the NSAs from South-Eastern Europe. Current issues were discussed regarding the activities of the Thematic Working Groups “International Security Agreements”, “Training”, “Industrial Security” and “Cyber security” established after agreement was reached among the participants in the Second Meeting of the Heads held in the period 7th May 2012 – 9th May 2012 in Brdo, Slovenia. SCIS participates as supporting NSA in all of the four thematic working groups. During the conference in Skopje the achievements of the working groups up to the present were discussed together with the vision of the NSAs for future initiatives in their activity. 

The sixth meeting of the Heads of SEENSA will be held in Montenegro in May 2016.
