Working meeting between the State Commission on Information Security and deputies and media experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

On 7 July, 2009 a working meeting between the State Commission on Information Security (SCIS) and deputies and media experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan an Uzbekistan was held. The meeting was organized by the SCIS together with The Center for media development – Sofia.

The subject of discussion was the legislative framework of the activities and the functioning of the system for the protection of classified information in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The structure, activities and functions of the SCIS were presented, as well as the interaction with the other state authorities which the SCIS has in its role of an executive authority performing the classified information protection policy. The issues related to the terms and conditions for receiving access to classified information according to the Classified Information Protection Act and access to public information according to the Access to Public Information Act were discussed and distinction was made. The issues connected to the media covering of the activities of the SCIS were discussed as well.
