Working meeting on the adopted amendments and supplement in the Classified Information Protection Act promulgated in the State Gazette, 71/13th September 2016

On 19th September 2016 the State Commission on Information  Security hosted working meeting on the adopted amendments and supplement in the Classified Information Protection Act promulgated in the State Gazette, 71/13th September 2016. 

The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Committee for disclosing the documents and announcing affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the State Security and intelligence services of Bulgarian Army Mr. Evtim Kostadinov, the Secretary-General of the Committee Mrs. Mariana Darakchieva, Mrs. Violeta Krasteva – Director of Classified Information Specialized Directorate and experts, Mr. Vasil Rizov – Deputy-Chairperson of SCIS and experts from the specialized administration of SCIS. 

With the adopted amendments in the law in the vetting procedure for reliability of individuals a check is foreseen for affiliation to the State Security and intelligence services of Bulgarian National Army in accordance with the Law on the access and the disclosure of documents and announcing affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the State Security and the intelligence services of Bulgarian National Army. This check will be conducted on individuals who will be subject to vetting procedure for reliability as well as on individuals who possess valid security clearances as for the latter the check has to be conducted in one year period as of the adoption of the law. This implies the establishment of organization by the competent authorities with regard to the terms and conditions for undertaking the necessary actions.

During the meeting the procedure for the check was discussed and adopted including unified templates for consent for this check which have to be filled in by the individuals themselves. This templates can be downloaded on the website of SCIS.
